Anyone ever heard of a 10 yr. old study at Harvard, where they discovered that suppressing CRH (from the hypothalamus) in mice with secondary adrenal insufficiency allowed the mice to do fine without taking cortisol? They found that cortisol was necessary for development in the prenatal period and just after birth, but that if the negative feedback loop was turned off, then cortisol became unnecessary. I'm very interested to see if any more ever came of this study!
Thanks, Jill
