Hello everyone, I hope to get to know all of you better! I have browsed a few of your posts and you seem to offer a great wealth of information and I hope you can answer a few questions for me.
I have a consultation in March with the hopes of receiving the go-ahead for a tummy tuck and lipo. I am 5'11 and 170 pounds. I have recently lost 10 pounds and find that the only areas I am seroiusly concerned with are my abdomen and love handles. They seem to be my most stubborn areas that won't deflate no matter how hard I try (thus causing my desire for the surgery). I don't plan to have it until June so I do have time to lose a few more pounds, but based on experience, and two babies, I know these areas aren't going anywhere!
My questions are these: Is there an ideal weight the doctor will expect of me before performing the surgery or is it based on BMI? Is the scarring bad for the lipo or is it easily disguised? What do the scars for the lipo look like?
I had a hystorectomy when I was 26 and pretty much figure they will go through the same site for the tuck so I am not as concerned for that scarring.
I would like to thank everyone in advance who can help me feel better, especially coming from an experienced standpoint, and not just the doctor's word alone. I would much rather hear it from people who have actually done it. I look forward to getting to know all of you better!

I just had lipo done a week ago today. The scarring is so slight! I have 6 teeny slits that look like paper cuts. They are still pink & healing, but doing well. The concern "I" have is the lumpiness that is now present. The doctor told me that it would fade as the swelling goes down (afterall, it has only been 7 days!). He said I was still swollen like a balloon & yet I already see the change! I only had 4 pounds removed. If anyone has answers to the lump & bump deal, I would love to hear back too!

Hi
The lipo scar is nothing, the tummy tuck scar is hip to hip which I have and I almost canceled my surgery because after seeing pics of the scar I was afraid but it does fade not entirely but it is worthy having a tight flat tummy. There is no getting around not having a hip to hip scar if you want a full tummy tuck. search the internet for before and after pictures of tummy tucks. Good luck

Hi...I had lipo about two years ago in every place you could imagine (that a woman would imagine)...tummy, inner/outer thighs, butt/saddlebag area, love handle area and knees. I am 5'4....weighed 150 at the time. Didn't really lose any weight...but now that I am at my goal weight (134) the shape of my body is so much better than before lipo (and kids!!)...NO SCARS AT ALL from lipo...still have saggy tummy though...........strongly considering tummy tuck....get doc.s opinion on whether lipo will be enough for tummy or do you need tuck... Good luck!!!

Those of you who have had the lipo.... can you let me know how long it took for the swelling to fade? I am only 1 1/2 weeks post-op & currently have some bruises, touch/numb spots that seem to fade day-to-day... I'm curious if the lumps will fade (are they the swelling?)... They are slight & seem to be in different spots each day. I'm wondering if it my sleeping position (?)...

Thank you for all the info!! I love this place!
I knew about the scarring from the tummy tuck and it doesn't pose a lot of concern for me considering I am so used to not exposing that lower area, I probably won't start any time soon, so only my husband and I will see it.
I am relieved about the lipo scars being so slight, I think descretion is key. Everyone may think there's something different but won't know why!!
I'm very excited about my consultation and I am going to take the advise and search the web for a few photos, I think it's best to know as much as I can before going in.
Keep your info coming!!

Hi-recovery from lipo was a little painful in the beginning...You are in early stage...1 and 1/2 weeks. I think by about 4-5 weeks I was feeling pretty good. Six weeks after lipo I had a girls (college) weekend reunion and we were out on the town, staying out late...wearing short skirts...the whole thing :) and I felt great by then. You might find that the incision sites feel kinda weird to the touch (not painful)...but that goes away. Congrats on your lipo!!!

I made it throught the surgery hurray now to make it through the pain I think the tummy tuck was less painful. I had to have a lift to that is why I am in pain I am typing very slow. I am scared to look at them but my sister said they look great and the doctor is pleased with how they came out well I will see today as I have an appointment with him tonight. Maybe the two things would be to uncomfortable to do together judging by how I feel right now. Talk to you later. Bye

SmileyK -- I'm at 4 weeks today!! When you say the incision site is weird to the touch, can you explain? I may have what you mention (?)... My incision site feels kinda like a small bead is under the skin. I also have some slight tightness too. I had my first endermologie treatment last night. I thought it would hurt, but it actually tickled! Maybe 'cause I am still tender & senstive on my belly. My doc says the endermologie will helps smooth everything out : )

Marie...I don't know what endermologie is (??). When I said weird to the touch...kinda tingly or even numb feeling. Is that what you have? I never had lumps...just lots of bruises...can't seen ANYTHING now. My friend had some lumps and her doc. told her to just massage it daily...did your doc. tell you to do that? I think I remember some of that tightness you were talking about also. How are you feeling now? I hope ok!! :)

Definitely feeling good! Thanks for asking!! Where I have slight lumps, it is still tingly/numb, like you reference. I have 2 slight knots (about 1/2 the size of a pea) where the incision site was, but they seem to be lessening as the days go by. No more bruising, but yes, still tender in spets here & there. I only had 4 pounds removed from my abdomen, nothing drastic... I did; however, do through all of the typical phases ("what have I done?"; "I don't see a big difference"; etc..). BUT those days are gone! I see all the difference in the world! I would definitely do it again, if need be. Oh... Endermologie is a massage-like technique where an aesthestician uses a vaccuum type device all over your body (you wear a full body pantyhoe). It creates circulation to the cellulite, making it lessen or even disappear (it doesn't go away, it is still there, the blood is just better circulated to lessen the appearance). I have been doing it once every 2 months for about a year & WOW!!! I had visible cellulite on my rear & slightly on my hips. I also had it if I pinched my skin on my front thighs. BUT NO MORE! That contraption is heaven sent! I swear by it. If you consider doing it, I can personally say that it was tough the first time (a lot of tugging/pulling on areas that aren't used to it). But each session after was a breeze. I did my first one after the lipo on Tuesday & it was "odd"... I didn't have pain when they went over my belly (?). It was more of a tickle. Almost like it was the first time the skin was ever touched. I guess it technically was?!?! : )
