SamQKitty 02-07-2005, 11:07 PM The answer to this question is a definite....maybe! Many people with hypoglycemia go on to develop diabetes because their pancreas, being overactive, eventually wears itself out. However, this is not true for all hypoglycemic people. Some people simply remain hypoglycemic for their lifetime without ever developing diabetes. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to predict who will go on to develop diabetes and who will remain hypoglycmic, but for that reason, it's important to manage the hypoglycemia well (with diet).
