I have blepharitis and since I was diagnosed my eyelids have been extremly itchy and irritated, so much that I can no longer wear eyeshadow. My eyelids look horrible! I even break out in hives sometimes. Is this a symptom of belph? I've even gone to the dermatologist with no luck. Does anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks

Holy Crap! Mani, I just came from my optho's while ago, and I was just diagnosed with it too! Bless your heart, it ain't funny, is it! I know the feeling! My left lid was red and swollen yesterday a.m., and I knew something was rotten in the woodpile. I've got dry eye and allergy eyes to boot! Whatta neat li'l package! NOT!
Here is what he wants me to do, and I hope this might help you as well.
He is having me to shampoo my eyelids GENTLY, with baby shampoo. Using a washrag with comfortable temperature, squeezed out, just put a dab of it on there, and do this. Then, after rinsing the shampoo from the rag, gently wash it off.
He gave me some antibiotic ointment to put on the eyelids to prevent infection. I do this at bedtime. He said I can put a warm, moist washrag on there, if it is really bugging me in daytime. This softens the gunk.
I sure hope you get better, and that maybe that will help, but I would sure see an eye Dr. first. He may have you do something different from what mine is, if it is a bit different. I have no styes as yet.
All the best,

I was just told the same thing I thought all I had was a sty but the Dr. said it was this and he gave me an eye lid wash along with an antibiotic ointment for the next two weeks. I was originally scheduled to go in for contacts today. Good Luck.

Mani, I think I remember you. Did we communicate a long time ago on a thread here? Sorry to hear you are having the bleph problems. I've got the same stuff and yes, you can have itchy, red swollen eyelids. I haven't broken out in hives but the lids do itch and get pretty red.
You could have some eczema on your eyelids too. You might try a cream for that. I would talk to a ophthalmologist about that. One nurse told me that this stuff is very hard to get rid of...I think patience is the key...
Hang in there!

Yea, I say unto you, there is yet another case! Howdy, calibug! This stuff is maxi bummersville, ain't it! It's true, it takes patience, but then, I'm a newbie to it! I'll probably be finding that out! Hope you also are rid of this mess soon too.
Ya'll take care,

Thanks it will get better I was told it just takes alot of sterility on our part.
Dr said to use a seperate wash rag for each eye, each time and then wash the wash rags in bleach water. I guess we will be doing alot of extra laundry. Make sure to use your antibiotic. Take care.

Hello, Mom9302~ My lids are doing better, but that crust sure is stubborn to get off! I soak it in a warm cloth, and it sticks like Super Glue!
I've been puny, and had to go get a shot yesterday, but may live yet!:D
Hope you're doing super good.
