:) I have fatigue that last for days, weeks, sometimes even longer
whenever I exercise lightly (depending on the intensity). I feel pretty good otherwise but a 15 minute walk can wipe me out for a while. The fatigue does not require bedrest but it does take time to recover. Doctor has no answers. I don't have CFS. Any of you ever heard of this or know what causes it? Thanks.

This is a symptom of CFIDS, so why exactly does your doc say you do not have it? Has he done tests to rule out other causes? Do you have any other symptoms, such as feeling ill (fluey) when you become fatigued? If not, have you considered mono?

I have been sick for 15 years. Originally I was told that I might have MS. Later I was told that it was Chronic fatigue syndrome. Just recently I have been diagnosed with Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis at a major MDA clinic in New York. I become paralyzed after rest when exercising. I can exercise fine, but when I sit down afterwards, I can freeze up from 20 minutes to 6 hours. I also have sudden attacks without exercising. At night I may wake up and be unable to even wiggle my toes, walk, or use hands. I have to lay there for several hours until it goes away. Eating carbohyrdates, salt and exercise causes my potassuim to drop, even the smallest amount can paralyze me. For years, I was told that it was all in my head. I don't have any pain. I just suddenly become dead weight. Most doctors have never seen this disorder because it is so rare. I had to go to a neurologist that specializes in this disease. For 15 years I was told that it was just fatigue, and I beleived it because there was no other answer.

Can you explain this further? or offer some diagnosis tests?

Chikin, when I first became ill, that was the FIRST symptom I noticed immediately after a bout of flu like symptoms that lasted for around 10 days. After exercise, particularly weight lifting, I would become extremely tired, sore, nervous, brain fogged, and generally ill feeling all over. I had no clue what was going on with my body as I've never experienced anything like it before. I kept on pushing and pushing and pushing it thinking it was all in my head. It kept getting worse and worse until the dead of winter hit and I could no longer tolerate exercise AT ALL and even had to stop working because I couldn't handle the stress anymore either. The doctors had no clue what to do with me, thinking that I needed to see a psychiatrist or something. The fear that I may have been going crazy made me search even harder for an answer to all this. Test after test after test yeilded nothing. Unfortunately, I haven't found the answer yet, but the search goes on for me. Its now believed that I do, in fact, have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome although doctors are very hesitant to give that label out. If your fatigue is unexplainable, you'd better search every possible known cause immediately. The longer you wait, the worse it will become.
