Three years ago, I had lithotripsy for a kidney stone. The result was permanent nerve damage that has left me with severe chronic pain. I'm currently in care of an excellent pain management doc and using fentanyl for relief of pain. Anyone else had a similar experience and have good advice?

Hi Towny,
For the past three years I have ad chronic pain that the neurologist has diagnosed as Idiopathic Neuropathy. Your post jogged my memory because I had forgotten that I had lithotripsy for a kidney stone a few months before the pain started. I'm curious about what type of pain you have and how did you determine that the lithotripsy was the cause?

Billtn...coming out of the anesg I initially had discomfort. Immediately following the litho proceed my right leg was partially numb. Within about 30 days I was in terrific pain. An MRI showned damage along my right leg nerve. I have been on pain meds ever since. The pain really started growing over the next 4 months. I am trying to find others exposed to litho damage believing that we might share remedies, pain management direction, etc. I am presently using fentanyl (not typically used for nerve related injuries) with real success. Is your discomfort in your legs, buttock...lower body?
