I posted a while back about my wife's abnormal pap.
She still has not yet gotten the results back. They were supposed to call last Wednesday, but they never did. We have tried to get a hold of someone at the office but no doctors ever answer because they are always too busy.
Would they have called us by now if there was a major problem do you think?

Remind us again which procedure she had. I know I had a follow-up pap once and the nurse got the results before the doctor did. Not realizing it was a follow-up and seeing normal results (which really were a false negative) she simply sent me the form letter that said that it was normal.
I recently read that doctors are more likely to call when they see bad results. The others can get pushed aside if they get busy. They should also call when they know how anxious you are, but that is not always the case.
I am actually still waiting on some pap results and I am hoping that they are good since my doc didn't mention anything the other day when we spoke on the phone.
Keep calling and please keep us posted.

I suggest you keep after your docs.
I waited the requisite two weeks for my follow-up pap results, then called. The nurse said my doc would call if there was a problem. I didn't hear, so I figure all was well ... until the doc left a message on my answering machine four weeks later (he'd been on vaction) saying that he wanted to schedule me for a coloposcopy as soon as possible.
So I figured out a way around this little waiting game with the coloposopy results. After the week was up and I hadn't heard, I simply called the medical records office and requested my very own copy. They faxed them to me that afternoon. I understood most of the pathology report because of previous conversations with my doc and other research. What I didn't understand, I looked up on the internet. It really set my mind at ease while I waited for my busy doc to call me.
Don't be afraid to request your own records. After all, they're yours!

Hi, GS it's probably not that serious so try not to worry. But I read a board members posting about a week ago suggesting us women to try green tea herbs and how it reduced her abnormal pap test to a normal pap test.
I am sooo desperate, that I have got to try something. I am tired of abnmormal pap smears. I will try what she is talking about. And she swears that it works if I consistently drink it. Maybe you can have your wife do the same in the mean time while she is waiting for the results, and even after her results too. Let me know if she tried it and I will let you know how I turned out.

The doctor finally got back to us about her results. It all came back normal. I had to get a social worker involved to get this doctor to call us. Thanks for all the support I appreciate it.
