View Full Version : Does this sound like arthritis?

Hello everyone. I have a doctor's appointment in just under two weeks from now (that's the soonest I could get in) but in the meantime I just thought I would get some opinions on this board. I have been having pain in my knees. It's been going on for a long time, but it was never very bad and it wasn't often enough that I made any note of it. I thought it was just normal aches and pains. I couldn't even tell you when the pain began. In November, I started to notice it a bit more. If I kept my knees bent for prolonged periods of time, when I straightened them it was very painful and I would have to limp around for a while until the pain subsided. Recently I have noticed that when I walk, especially when I go up and down stairs, it's very painful. When the weather got colder the pain became worse. Today I layed down for a nap and I couldn't sleep because of a constant ache in my knees. I haven't really noticed them swelling or anything, but one of my friends mentioned that she has osteo-arthtritis, and that everything that I was describing was what she had before she got diagnosed. Perhaps I should mention that I am a female, turning 20 very soon, and I have been a dancer all of my life, although it's just been recreational for the past few years so I can go to university. Am I just being silly or does it sound like there may be something wrong?

Thanks,
-Lindsey-

You might have some inflammation at this time. I get this every winter and when it warms up outside, I don't have as much trouble.
Try to take some Aleve. It works the best and you will not be in pain. It usually takes 2 days to get the full benefit.
