I don't have a good answer for you, but from what you described, it doesn't sound too serious.

It sounds like you could have two seperate problems or one really weird one.the noises inside your neck(the crunching)sounds like it could be some sort of a vertebrae problem as in a disc is either gone or become very displaced and what you are actually hearing is one vert rubbing against another. Not good. You really need to see your doc and ask for an MRI of your C spine area to see if there is some sort of a problem. It could also be bone spurs as well. There are many different things that could cause these types of noises. You will just need a better look inside to see what that is.

Good heavens! I hope it is nothing serious!

I have also had creeking sounds in my neck when I turn my head from side to side, but it isn't very loud. I've had it for, I'm sure, at least 30 or 40 years and it hasn't become any worse. (I'm 63.) In fact, I may have had it all my life. I never have mentioned it to my doctor; I just never considered it important enough to do so. But now that you mentioned it, I'm curious as to what it is, since over the years I've asked other relatives and they don't seem to have it.

I hope you get your problems sorted out.

Uff da, I just wanted to tell you before you actually see a doc about your neck?Do not, unless it is some sort of an immediate threat(which by this time is highly unlikely)let any surgeon near your neck for any surgical procedure unless you are having alot of pain and or nerve compromise somewhere. If you have lived with this for this long,to do anything to it at this point, mght bring on a whole host of pain and problems for you to have to deal with.If I were you, i would ask for an MRI to see what is actually causing this, but wait as long as possible to actually let any NS do anything to it."let sleeping dogs lie",you know?i hope it is nothing major.Marcia
