Hey everyone
sorry if I am being a pain with all my posts but everytime I think I have a handle on my situation something else seems to come along and confuse me again.
Today I officially got my colposcopy results back and was wondering if anyone has seen this type of result

Cervix biopsy 2:30
Squamous metaplasia with koilocytosis and acute and chronic cervicitis (HUH???)

Cervix biopsy 9:00
Mild squamous dysplasia (CIN I) occuring in a background of squamous metaplasia with MARKED koilocytotic atypia and acute and chronic cervicitis

Endocervical curettage
superficial fragments of unremarkable endocervical epithelium admixed with mucin.

These are all such "big, technical" words that make no sense to me and the dr. won't be available to answer my questions til Mon. I refuse to wait that long for clarification, and since I have already been thinking about a second opinion and finding a better dr. this is a big push.
In the mean time I have these results staring at me and i don't know what they mean. Any ideas anyone??
Thanks!!

Hey, I can tell you one good thing before I try to search for the other words. It's sometimes tough to do a search when you have big technical terms because you end up with results that sound exactly the same, but I will still try.

Anyway, it looks like your ECC was good. "Unremarkable" is a good thing in this kind of case. That mean sthat whatever you have it looks like it is only on the outside of the cervix and hasn't started growing in too deep!

I'll let you know if I can find anything about the rest.

Ok, I found koilocytosis. The cells look different due to changes caused by HPV. Perhaps this is the same as when mine say "HPV effect." The lab techs here aren't as distinguished. Well, nobody is, but that's another story.

The cells that have koilocytosis, or the koilocytotic atypia, are not precancerous, but it is a sign to watch for dysplasia.

Wow, squamous metaplasia exists all over the body. The only thing I found was that these cells are part of a normal healing process.

Did your doc send you these results without any explanation? That really seems unfair.

thanks nik for the helpful answers! I have done some digging too, and it looks like the fancy words sound for CIN I, HVP, and the acute and chronic cervititis. I am going in for a second opinion on halloween so maybe this will be a better dr.!!!
