I just quit smoking about a month ago, after smoking for 5 years. It took me about 3 times before I actually did it. I just finished out my pack and never bought another one. It was hard at first, but I did it. I didn't use any pills or patches, just my will power and the need to breathe again. It's been rough, though. Some days are good and some days I have to force myself not to go to the store to buy a pack. GOOD LUCK!

I smoked a pack a day for 7 years, and loved almost every minute of it.
Mildly interested, I went with a friend to her Nicotine Anonymous group, didn't participate at all, and couldn't wait to get outside and have a smoke.

That was 1 year ago yesterday, and i still have not had a cigarette.

I've never been to any other kind of "Anonymous" meeting, but I can tell you that something about this worked. 6 months after my first meeting, I took a friend with me, and he has not smoked since.

Best of luck to you... it's better out there when you don't smoke, i promise!

Thanks to all who have replied and I am so proud of those of you who have quit or are in the process. I started the wellbutrin yesterday and was told to expect it to "kick in" within two weeks and by then I should just not want to smoke anymore. I am keeping my head up!!! And I just bought tons of gum!

Good Luck Kaesle in kicking the habit of smoking. I am a smoker myself and I have to quit too because of the cervical dyplasia. I have heard of wellbutrin and Zyban but how do you go about getting the prescription for them. Is it something that your family doctor may prescribe for you and what are the side effects. Thank you so much for answering some of my questions regarding cervical dysplasia and HPV. Keep me posted on how well you do on the medication. Its nice to know there is people to talk to on here.
Thanks again
