View Full Version : Adult Sexual Difficulty On Ritalin

I am having difficulty with an extremely increased sexual drive and the Ritalin. I am alright during the day, when I am on my Ritalin, but after the usual effects of it wear off (namely, being able to focus myself on the things that require my attention) I am bothered by a hyper-sensitivity of my genitalia and a resulting inability to focus on something other than engaging in sex with my husband. Now, I'm 34 and he is 41. I'm killing him here. Even after I am sexually satiated, I find that after and hour or two, I am right back where I was. This is resulting in between 4 to 6 sexual encounters per 12 hour period - which lasts into the night and the next morning. I am exhausted enough to sleep, but if I am awakened during the night, especially by feeling any contact with my husband, I am unable to rest or relax again until we have had another encounter.

Is this sort of insatiability common in adults on Ritalin?

wow, this sounds like me except that I am on Adderall XR 60 mg/day. I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that my sex drive is insane! I read all kinds of things about people having no sex drive on Adderall so I must be the exception.. I am also on Wellbutrin XL so I suppose it could be that too. I am 30 and my husband is 42 and he doesn't know what to think lol. I feel like a pervert lmao I find myself fantasizing about him all of the time. I wonder if this side affect will fade.. any ideas?

Gee, is that really a problem? I remember those days it was awesome - but it goes away. :-( Some of those times you should handle yourself, it's faster and less trouble.

wonder if this side affect will fade

These types of medications can cause a variety of sexual side effects. And it can go either way, you might see an increase OR decrease in desire.

For many people the side effects do fade with time, but not for everyone. If this is really bothering you, talk to your doc. They have heard it all before!

Good luck.
