I have a curious question. I am a female, 37 yrs old. I have had some unusual bowel symptoms lately and I am not sure what to do or if it is worth following up on. I have noticed that for the last 4-6 months, my stools have been very narrow. They almost look like something is scraping against one side of them also. I have not had any blood in my urine, no fatigue, and no weight loss. I was recently diagnosed (9-17-01) w/ bladder cancer. Had 1 small non invasive tumor removed. Last Cystoscopy showed a possible return of the cancer. Will be scoped again next month and possibly have a biopsy.

Could the narrow stools be just hemmorhoids? I have tried hemmoroid creams and suppositories, but have not noticed any changes.

If anyone has some insight or advice, I sure would appreciate it!!

Thanks

I had colon cancer in 1997, and I had thought it was just bleeding hemmoroids. It turned out to be stage three ,because it had eaten through the colon wall and had gotten into some of the lymph nodes. I had surgery and then Chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Even though the test (colonoscopy) is some what embarrasing , it is well worth having it done and finding out just what the problem is.

Hello,
My best friend is 34 and just got diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer which is uncommon for her age. Her symptoms were frequent bowel movement, painful hemmoroids, fatigue, blood in stool. She is now undergoing chemo and radiation then will have a colectomy. She is between stage 3 and 4. I pray for her every day. She has two small children. From what I've read, this is a highly treatable form of cancer if you can get diagnosed in the beginning stage which is quite hard because you don't have much symptoms. So it would be well worth it to you to get this checked out right away so you can have pease of mind. Chances are it's nothing but hemmoroids. I wish you the very best for a full recovery from the cancer you have.

Dear Princessdot,
Please e-mail me. My father was recently diagnosed with rectal cacer (possibly stage 3). From your message, it looks like you had surgery followed by chemo and radiation. I have been advised to have preopertaive radiation and chemo before surgery for my dad. I would appreciate it any help you can give me. Thanks. Anyone else who can share their experiences with me, please do.
