I hope someone can spread some light on this subject for me.
I get fatigue often and always blamed it on sinus infections that were recurrent. I went on a stronger antibiotic right before I had sinus surgery in Dec. of 2001. By the end of taking this antibiotic I noticed that I was getting a slight rash on the inside of my right leg and privates. I began to get an anal itch that seemed to be helped with any cream I applied as long as I used it religiously. This went away and I had my surgery. All was well except for the occasion breakout on my inner leg, usually one or two bumps at a time and the continual anal itch until after Christmas. I had a major dizzy spell that lasted about 20-30 seconds and I was slightly dizzy off and on for weeks after that while I visited docs about it. They immediately thought I may have a brain problem and an MRI showed a bright spot on my MRI. I was sent to the neurologist thereafter. I complained of the anal itch and rash and by this time I was getting itching bottom of feet as well. After finding nothing wrong other than the spot on the brain at the neuro I approached my regular doc and demanded some help with the itching. I asked if a stool sample might tell what the problem was since they were often loose and on occasion had been explosive.
Yeast infection was the outcome. I took 1 week of Diflucan and felt 85-90% better. A week later I was getting it again. The doc decided to put me on a month of Diflucan which a have a little more than a week to finish.
What illnesses can lead to yeast infection in the bowels or what could I be doing to cause this problem?
If it comes back after this I hate to think of the tests I will have to go through to figure it out.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and please reply if you have any input for me....

You said you were on an antibiotic earlier? The problem with that is along with killing the bad bacteria, it also kills the good bacteria in your intestines. It may help to eat yogurt, as it contains the good bacteria, or ask the doctor about it. I'm a dairy farmer, (my wife is always complaining because I compare human problems with cattle's) and I give the newborn calves a probiotic bacteria to introduce it into their intestinal tract...it helps with diarrhia. I believe the bacteria in yogurt is lacto(something). The bacteria in the system is what helps keep yeast infections in check, so it may help to re-introduce the good bacteria into your system following antibiotic therapy.
