View Full Version : Guys: ever get a pain 'down there' with IBS?

I went to the Doctors recently complaining of a bloated/wind sensation in my lower left abdomen - near the groin mainly, but... well... it seems to move all over really. He basically felt my stomach, and said it was most probably IBS (my mother suffers from it terribly, and I am under a great deal of stress/anxiety at the moment, which may well have triggered it).

Now, what I am wondering is, can IBS cause an ache in the testicle? Most of the time it only seems to be in my left testicle (which corresponds to the bloated feeling in my abdomen) but occasionally it seems to be in the right one as well.

It has completely disappeared a couple of times, for full days sometimes - mainly when I'm not anxious and not THINKING about it (I have this huge fear of testicular cancer at the moment.... before this started, I was obsessing over lymphatic cancer...argh!) So I really don't know if this is anxiety or IBS related or what?

Can anyone give some advice?

All the best

Do you FEEL anything out of the ordinary on your testicle? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Be sure to roll 'em around in your fingers after a warm shower. This way you can feel for any abnormalities easier. I don't think you'll find any, however.

Take care.

Hurting in the testicle area is not a symptom of IBS

I suggest with the pain you descibe you get an exam from a Urologist -- that specializes in that area!!

I don't feel anything out of the ordinary on my testicle at all. To be honest, I only feel pain/discomfort when I have the IBS/anxiety. There are no lumps, bumps, enlargements or swellings. I know this for a fact. Just a bit of tenderness. I'm going to delay going to the Doctor to be honest - if I went to the Docs about everything I've been obsessing about over the last few months I'd be permanently there. I'm not even joking.

But thanks for your concern. ;)

Its funny though, I did some research on this online after I posted here, and I found that a LOT of guys with IBS have testicle ache.

Hi Davros,

Its possible that it is IBS related - used to get pain down there too. The pain in the stomach that corresponds is normal because this pain is similar to a reaction of being hit down there.

Nevertheless, while I didn't check it beyond talking to my GP - you might ask a urologist if you're really worried.

Cheers, Raju.

Raju,

Thanks for your help. The pain seems to be subsiding now that I'm less anxious and stressed - the same goes for the stomach problems really, so I won't be hassling the doctor/urologist this time round :)

it could be Levator Syndrome, which is a chronic spasming in the pelvic floor muscles. When it gets bad, it can cause something known as CPPS or "chronic pelvic pain syndrome." The good news is, it's not a serious condition. No one knows what causes it.

Next time it happens, try glucosamine & chondroitin, and quercitin. These supplements help CPPS, and may help you.

Also, avoid artificial sweetners -they cause urinary problems. No one should drink this garbage.

Oh yeah, feels like the jewels are being pinched in a vise sometimes. Hurts like he11. Only when attacks are at their worst though.

Thanks for replying. Since my original post, I've noticed that when I'm really, really bloated, both of 'em hurt like hell. Ugh. It usually only last for a few hours or so, but its still awful!

Most of the time its just my left one. Its nowhere near as bad as it was when I originally posted either. It also goes when my stomach's not playing up, so I'm no longer too concerned about it.

Its weird what IBS can do to you. Though they do say that yer balls are really nature's mistake - that they're really part of your insides... but on the outside!

Just for the record:

I went to the Docs on Friday about this. I explained the pains I was having in my lower abdomen, and in the scrotum itself. He basically said that IBS can "most definitely" cause pain and discomfort in the scrotum.

Since he said that, my mind has eased quite a bit, and the pain no longer seems to be there. Hehe. Twisted :bouncing:

Davros,

Oh my god! I can't tell you how happy I am to read your post!!

I have had the same exact pain in my left testicle, especially after or around an "attack" of IBS, along with other symptoms.

The Dr. says that they don't know too much about IBS and thinks my "other symptoms" are stress related. This makes me feel kind of crazy, like I'm making the rest of it up, but it feels so real, like something is really wrong.

Your post makes me feel so much better and less worried. Thank you.

I have been put on Zoloft and prescription calcium to help curb symptoms. Cut coffee, dairy and am working to find other triggers.

Peace,

Greg
