I have had bowel problems for about 4 months now so I made a dr. appointment for a Pelvis/abdominal ultrasound.. will this tell the doctor if I have any serious bowel problems like irritable bowel syndrom or colon cancer, etc....
or will she need to do another type of exam??

She may need a colonoscopy to determine if she has any problems with her bowels. The ultrasound may not show the whole colon.

This article lists various gastrointestinal diseases. There are many tests because there are so many possibilities. What usually happens is that the doctors start with the likeliest possibility [diagnosis] and work their way through the list.
