I read about this recently on here and was curious if others also had these weird "twitches" or spacsticity throughout random areas of their bodies (i get them almost anywhere and they are not painful and are very short). i have had chronic diahrrea (as of yet undiagnosed!!! they found a entomeba hystolitica parasite a month ago but neither the flagyl nor paromycin made me better) so i have been undergoing tests (sygmoidoscopy, colonoscopy) which have yet to return any conclusive results. and just this week i started getting these weird twitches throughout the day. my diahhrea is quite frequent. i almost feel like i can go at any time i choose, though i can also usually hold it in. i go over 5-6 X a day and have no other real symptoms. no pain, no nausea. recently i have lost some weight but at fisrt wasnt losing any. do my symtoms sound familiar to anyone? they dont sound like classic IBS or even classic anything as far as i've read. and the parasite shouyld be long gone after 2 courses of antibiotics, no? plus the twitches are freaking me out.
any thoughts? advice? ideas of what this is? anyone suffered the same or similar plight?
thanks,
jeff

Have you taken any antibiotics in the last 8 months? Specifically Avelox, Levaquin, or Cipro?

You should be o.k. with those antibiotics. Floroquinolones such as Avelox and Cipro can cause muscle twitching and nerve problems, even long after the medication is stopped.

But also remember that these substances are still in your blood stream, and who knows what side-effects they can cause.

I get the twitches, and I really wouldn't worry about that. It's most likely stress and the drugs still in your system.

I think the parasite is probably gone, but what's happening now could be c-diff, a condition where antibiotic use leads to chronic diahrea. Eat yogurt twice a day, stay away from meat and spicey food. Talk to your doctor about this possibility.
