MikeyB 02-14-2005, 02:45 PM any remedies??? Sponsor davros 02-14-2005, 03:15 PM any remedies??? I quite enjoy it. I find it sort of relieving! worriedfemale29 02-15-2005, 04:10 AM I have to agree I find it relieving also. My problem is I have gas build up so bad at times and it won't come out. So when it does I feel extremely happy. chiggins1066 02-15-2005, 12:38 PM worriedfemale29, when you have gas build up, is it lower intestinal/colon? Like you have to have a BM, but then an hour later or so, gas comes out and it is a relief? Almost like gas is trapped in there for a while? I get this a lot, and it's really annoying. Doctor thinks I might have IBS. worriedfemale29 02-16-2005, 03:05 AM Yes, it is horrible! I even get pressure down in my butt like I have sit to long in something hard. On the left bottom side of me by my hip bone even gets pains at times from this. I constantly feel as if I need to go and nothing comes out but a little gas at times and at least the gas comming out gives me some relief. It's the most annoying thing I have ever had. calgirl 02-16-2005, 04:12 AM Okay everyone! A colonic could do the trick. It's where a trained professional cleans out your colon. To find out more about colonics do a search on the internet. I'm sure there's a link that could describe to you what it consists of better than I can. Also taking 2 tablespoons a day of ground flax seed meal could really help with this gas problem. Make sure to keep it in the fridge so that it will stay fresh. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!! EchoeB42 02-17-2005, 02:25 PM And where can we get this Flax seed?? is it with spices at the grocery store or so we go to a health food store?? calgirl 02-20-2005, 07:37 AM The flax seed can be purchased at most health food stores and should be refrigerated. I use ground flax seed meal. Two tablespoonfuls a day is what is recommended. It makes you regular and can help with most gas problems! I hope this helps! Oh! And try some acidophilus. This can help bring some friendly bacteria into your system and hopefully kill off the bad bacteria that causes gas and bloating. Try it and see if it works for you! Remember to give it at least 2 to 3 weeks to see improvement. EchoeB42 02-20-2005, 10:51 AM Im going to give it a shot, I have been on metamucil for years and i just dont seem to get totally cleaned out, Im sooooooooooooo bloated also, tryed Fiber Tabs and had so much gas it was horrible, so now im back to metamucil 3 x's a day and hoping the flax will be a kicker to get things moving better, maybe one day i could do with out the metamucil and just use Flax? Trial and error I guess. Have tryed acidophilus, didnt do anything for me. anyways, Thank You :) Marimac 02-20-2005, 02:42 PM If you are drinking a lot of carbonated beverages, coffee, or tea, you may also be causing gas that will get trapped. It is difficult to pass up soft drinks especially when it is so inexpensive and most bottled water is more expensive than that. But, gas is the other option. cinnamongirl_9 02-20-2005, 07:12 PM Hi. Unfortunately I can definitely relate to your gas problem. I have suffered from IBS (or so the doctors think) for over 20 tears. The most helpful thing for me was not prescription medication or enzymes or probiotics, but simply cleaning up my diet. Get rid of the processed foods (white bread, fast food, bakery fare;) limit dairy (causes gas in 80% of the adult population; if you must indulge, goat's milk, cheese, and yogurt is much more easily digested that cow's milk- soy, rice, and nut beverages are other options;) up the fiber!- someone had mentioned flax seed and that's a good source, but 3 heaping tablespoons only have about 3 grams of fiber, so you need to add lots of fiber-rich vegetables, fruits with seeds, whole grains, and nuts; eat many small meals through out the day- less food at a time equals less stress on your digestive system, which equals less symptoms, including gas and bloating; don't eat after 7:PM- your body is winding down for the day, your metabolism is slowing, your mind and organs are getting ready to sleep, you can't feed it a huge meal at night and expect it to be digested without giving you any problems! Stay away from fake sugars- they cause gas, gas, gas. Speaking of causing gas- onions, soy, fruit, and eggs are known culprits. Drink lots of water- cleans you out and keeps everything running smoothly. Also, many people are sensitive to gluten, the protein found in wheat and many other grains, even if they do not have celiac disease (actually being allergic to gluten.) I am a bodybuilder, and I can't say enough about the benefits of exercise. It helps food move through the digestive system quicker, it revs up the metabolism, it calms an irritated, bloated abdomen, and it helps you lose weight, so that big tummy doesn't look as bad attached to those killer legs! There. I know this is a lot to think about, and, if you live on processed food and very little in the way of veggies, may seem all but impossible. However, if you adopt a healthier-eating approach slowly, making little changes on a weekly basis, it is do-able. And if you look at both sides of the coin, (A) being gassy and smelly but regularly eating Krispie Kreme doughnuts and Wonder bread, or (B) looking, feeling, and SMELLING healthy, happy, and thin while eating lots of veggies and drinking lots of water, I'll take (B) any day! And so will the people who are in the crowded elevator with me!! I hope I've helped at least one person out there. I'm new to this site, but plan to visit often now that I've found it. I would love to hear some feedback about my suggestions. And I call them MY suggestions because I've compiled this list based on my personal experience. Good luck to everyone reading this. Mabes 02-26-2005, 03:19 PM Have you discovered that certain foods make it any worse?? I've eliminated certain foods from my diet, just because I know they'll cause me to get horrific wind - worse than usual anyway! sungirlcali 03-08-2005, 07:00 AM I had terrible stomach problems. The only thing that worked for me was going on an elimination diet. Start at the basics. Eat only bland foods the first week, then reintroduce one food at a time. Common offenders are dairy, wheat, eggs, shellfish. I found out that I am sensitive to wheat/gluten which is in breads, most cereals, and processed foods. I avoid this now and it has made all the difference in my life--truly! No longer depressed, feeling sick, gassy, irritable. Yes, it can be difficult at first to give up favorite foods, but trust me. In the long run, you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER! (plus, I lost some weight and look a lot better). smurfette1945 03-08-2005, 09:15 AM Um..hi. my name is smurfette and I have a problem with gas. :o All day, all night, every day, no matter what. I changed my diet for a long time. I don;t drink coffee, pop, tea because that stuff makes me ill. I don't eat fat food...that whole list above basically is me..except the goats milk stuff..i have goats milk soap, that's about it. I don't have IBS, but I did a gassy search and this is where it brought me. It actually gets to the point where it builds up so much, my tummy gets a little hard, and i get pains in my ribs and chest! Gotta wait till the bf isn't around though..lol. Any other ideas? chiggins1066 03-08-2005, 10:36 AM I know how you feel, I have INSANE amounts of intestinal gas, but I haven't really treid to modify my diet. All the stuff I love causes gas! Soy, beans, etc. I've tried gas-z and charcol caps, but they don't do much. Does tea cause gas? What can I do? |
