regionals18 02-14-2005, 10:30 PM guys i need an answer now i feel like im going to faint i dont know wat to do plz i need help and not the answer go to the er like i dont know i need advice plz. Linda1629 02-15-2005, 02:46 PM I've read some of your posts. You're 13, you've been sick a lot lately, you have asthma. You don't feel well at all and you think there's more wrong with you. Your mother has told you to write down your symptoms and then tell them to the doctor. I think that's great advice. I think you should do exactly that. Write down exactly what is going on with you and when it is happening. You said you had bronchitis and pneumonia and those can make you feel lousy for months. I don't know what's causing your symptoms but if you feel faint at any time then you need to sit down or lie down and then when the lightheaded feeling passes you should get up slowly and maybe get something to eat. I'm sure you'll feel better soon but it sounds like everything you've had has really knocked you on your butt. From your posts it sounds like you've been to the doctor's quite a bit and have been on a lot of meds. They can make you feel sick too. In fact, my daughter just had to stop taking a certain decongestant because it made her dizzy and shakey. So, if you're taking anything now then maybe you can look up the side effects on the internet and see if that might be your problem. Good luck. regionals18 03-03-2005, 09:07 PM i was put on more meds and im having more tests the dr. doesnt have answers and im still feeling faint a lot regionals18 03-03-2005, 10:39 PM i think i figured it out im on prednisone which can cause the change in blood sugar the only prob is, is that after i eat and im at school i feel really hight and start to shak and cant stop and then after 4 more days im having a dramatic stop of this med i have been on it for 2 months which will cause a reaction of low bs i dont know how to level it when im at school the whole time and i dont know how to explain it to others any advice Linda1629 03-04-2005, 07:22 AM I thought you weren't supposed to have a dramatic stop of prednisone. I thought that was something you were supposed to get off of gradually by cutting your doses down over several days or even longer. Best check with your doctor to make sure you're going to stop the medication the correct way. Do you have a home glucose meter? Maybe you could ask your doctor about getting one. That way you can test your blood sugar in school to find out if that is what is causing your shakiness. regionals18 03-04-2005, 06:32 PM dont those cost a lot (glucose meters) do they hurt how would i confront him Linda1629 03-05-2005, 04:56 PM You can get them pretty cheap. What costs a lot are the strips for the meter. You can ask your doctor for a meter and if he has any he'll probably just give it to you or you can just buy one from a drugstore. Check the circulars in your paper for one of the drug store chains. They usually go on sale every so often. We bought our One Touch Ultra for $19.99. The strips cost about 75 cents each and you can get them in boxes of 50 or 100. You also need the lancets for the lancing device and those are about $8 for a box of 100, you can get generic brands even cheaper. Might be worth the investment so you can have this on you and test your blood sugar every so often to see if that's what's causing your problems. And no, it doesn't hurt. You can test using your finger tip and it's even less painful to test in your forearm. There are instructions with the meter. Maybe you can talk to your mom about investing in this, it's probably well worth it considering all the trouble you've been having. Good luck. Oh, and all this can be bought without a prescription, right over the counter. regionals18 03-05-2005, 06:15 PM is pouding of heart a sign and feel blood flow romeoii 03-06-2005, 11:56 PM regional18, are you on any special type of diet such as "atkins?" part of your sumpthoms sounds if "ketoacidosis" excessive keytones in the blood, this can cause a post food high, giddiness lightheadedness are you able to get to the health room at your school when these incidents occur. they can test for this with "kito-sticks" and check your blood pressure at the same time. some people get fainting sensation when sitting and/or have restricted blood flow to the legs (such as when sitting on a sharp edge) and then when they get up it causes the blood pressure to drop quickly! you can try mildly exercising your legs brfore getting up and see it it helps those sensation ease or go away even!
