Chris who is almost 5 said talked to me yesturday !! He said no mom and dad as a response to telling him to go to bed :) He has been "jabbering" more and more recently but that is the first time I ever heard him say anything that I could "understand" expect for "mama" . I have been waiting so long to hear him talk and it looks like it may be finally starting!!!

:) That is fantastic. What a fabulous step forward, there will be no stopping him now. He will be talking up a storm before you know it. I am so happy for you. :bouncing:

I truly hope so. He said "bye" to me when he got on the school bus this am. I am thrilled!! I realized long ago that he may never say anything verbaly (he does use sign language) but never knew deep down how much I still wanted him to talk until he said something.

Thanks for your replies. Chris isn't talking a ton but he will respond to something often but not all the time. Its coming around slowly but I am sure that he is getting ready to get 5 years worth of thought out soon :)

That's great! I know how you feel. My granddaughter who is eight has started saying a couple words. I asked her the other day who was her boyfriend? She replied "Bubba". That is her little friend name! She says yes and Mama . Sometimes you can get her to sound out the alphabet. She received the super kid award of the month award.
Just little things but SO BIG to us!!
God Bless us all!!

I just saw your post and I have tears running down my cheeks. Looks like the prozac is helping...that is so wonderful! Wouldn't you know his first word would be no! Although my son spoke before, he didn't say no until he was about 5. I figured everything was to his liking until then! I understand what you mean about hearing his little voice! Is he speaking to anyone else besides mom and dad? My son and daughter are close in age like yours, they had a connection that was surreal in a sense, she intuitively understood everything he was thinking and saying....still does. It's like they have there own little world..outside of his!

I've been away from this board for a while. How are you all doing? I am hoping you found a great place to live after the hell you went through at Christmas.

Oh look at me, just blabbing on, my heart is so happy!

Hoping this finds you well, your news is the best!

I t is the most wonderful thing in the world to hear my son say stuff. He doesn't say much and only to me and hubby so far. People told me from the start he may talk he may not. The one thing that got me so annoyed but I knew people were trying to help said oh my daughter never talked till she was 5 etc etc. Chris is a unique person and I hope and pray that all the people waiting to hear their children talk will hear them soon. Lillypad looong story about Christmas  but everything is good now:)

momofchris....

that's such good news!!! I know exactly what you are feeling about right now!! Those words that you have waited for so long to hear...it just melts your heart no matter what it is...even if it's "NO!"
