is an overnight hospital stay after surgery REQUIRED? I had a consultation and the price of the tummy tuck is affordable, the anesthesia is also affordable, but the doc wants me to stay in the hospital overnight and the price of the hospital stay is so NOT affordable! So now, I can't afford the tummy tuck. Should I consult with another doctor or are all the doctors going to make me stay in the hospital overnight? Can you guys tell me your experiences? I would really appreciate it!

I had a tummy tuck and I stayed overnight which I think most people do, I did have one friend who went home. I think it is better to stay one night because you will be to uncomfortable to go home. I just had breast augmentation and a lift Saturday and I was miserable on the ride home.

Not all Plastic surgeons require you to stay in the hospital. I had my surgery done in my PS's surgical center...and then went home after I stayed in recovery for a few hours. It wasn't so bad...although I am not typical when it comes to pain..I had none. I had a BA,BL,TT with lipo of inner and outer thighs and flanks on 7/8/04. I am extremely happy with my results.

Thanks for your responses. I've decided to bite the bullet and have the tummy tuck anyway. I'm scheduled for March 28th and I'm so excited....and a little nervous. Wish me luck!!!

Thanks, girlygal. I'm going to need all the luck I can get!! I've had 3 c-sections, but I have a feeling the TT is going to be worse than that!!

YES...good luck to you!!! I am also STRONGLY considering tummy tuck...I can't imagine it would be worse than C-section...since the doc. doesn't have to cut into so many layers...and organs. Don't know, though. Please post when you're done...I'd love to know about your experience. Do you mind if I ask you what it's costing...I've had two different consultations and the prices were 2,000 different from each other.. Maybe one does include a night in the hospital and the other doesn't (??) Did you decide to stay overnight?

Thanks! I'm soooooooo excited. I hope you are right about the TT not being worse than the c-sections! ;)

My tummy tuck itself will cost $5000 and my general anesthesia cost is $870. I am staying in the hospital overnight and that will cost $1896. I think the costs vary from state to state.....I live in Houston, Tx. I will definitely keep you posted about my results. Good luck to you, too!

Good luck when are you doing this, I did not find the pain that bad but they do give you pain killers I just had breast augmentation and a lift and I think this might be a little worse then the tummy tuck was but then again the tuck was almost 2 years ago so I probably just forgot that surgery as I just did this one. You will be happy with the results of a new flat tummy.

I'm having mine done on May 5th in Raleigh, North Carolina and will be coming home the same day. No stay in the hospital is required for the full tummy tuck.

I am also in Maryland and am currently starting to search for a good doctor. Can you tell me who you used for your surgery and if you would be willing to talk more about recovery & options that were available to you. I saw your other post about the weight and wondered if you would mind sharing if you did loose the weight before the surgery? I am debating on trying to loose it (all 3 kids worth) :) first or going ahead with the surgery since I keep start/stop and never get to where I want to be.
