girlwondering 02-16-2005, 05:23 AM And what is the usual chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Disease (in any stage)? djcarroll 02-16-2005, 04:45 PM  I think it depends on your age, LOL, hot flashes can last years! Living in a cabin in the woods when I was diagnosed and had no night sweats; learned the meaning of a three dog night. Would suspect that you're correct though, if the cause doesn't go away neither will the symptoms? antoinettev3 02-16-2005, 06:13 PM The following are two common chemo protocols for Hodgkins: MOPP: mechlorethamine (nitrogen mustard) vincristine (Oncovin) procarbazine prednisone ABVD: doxyrubicin (adriamycin) blemycin vinblastine dacarbazine My b-i-l was diagnosed when he was 28 and went through the MOPP protocol. He handled it well and has been cancer free for 15 years. Antoinette girlwondering 02-17-2005, 04:50 AM It has been confirmed as Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. girlwondering 02-17-2005, 05:54 AM Living in a cabin in the woods when I was diagnosed and had no night sweats; learned the meaning of a three dog night. What is a "three dog night"? :D linacre 02-17-2005, 08:46 AM For NHL the standard treatment is CHOP and radiotherapy. It depends on the type and stage of the disease, however. Localised NHL can sometimes be treated with radiation alone, while indolent lymphomas are sometimes not treated at all until the patient starts to show symptoms. Best of luck to your friend. girlwondering 02-17-2005, 08:55 AM I think it will be spread--she has had appetite/weight disturbances as well as fever and night sweats for the past 2 weeks. All those things indicate "advanced" progression. I suspect CHOP and radiotherapy. Incidentally, my mother just passed away from breast cancer, and she underwent CHOP chemo within the year before her death. :( I feel devistated. djcarroll 02-17-2005, 04:54 PM :bouncing: 'Three Dog Night' was the name of a rock band from my era AND it is the number of dogs that keep you warm on a cold night....so, a 'three dog night' is a pretty darn cold night. So, NHL has been confirmed, you say...I'm sorry that you must join this elite wonderful group of people. So, now...what was the diagnois, type (there are 22 or so types) stage, etc. and what are the proposed treatments? or WW, have you gotten that far? DX 5/98 NHL, indolent center cell 98 CHOP then Rituxan 2000 Rituxan 2003 Rituxan 2005_02_28 Rituxan, then Zevalin? |
