I have been suffering from ibs symptoms for about nine years, recently told that, when colonoscope found no abnormalities.I have become aware of my symptoms but recently have been getting worse symptoms and my doctor keeps passing it off as my ibs.
Yesterday I started cramping, really bad,in my pelvis, down both legs and across my lower back, feel like bad menstral cramps except I haven't had menses for 5 years from being on the depo shot.Pain subsided and got worse through the day, this morning I got up and felt ok had a b/m and it started again except this time no cramps just severe pain in left side of my lower back, still have it.Ladies is this normal ibs symptoms or could it be a problem with my ovaries or uterus? My doctor just blows it off as ibs, scared it could be something worse.
I am not constipated,b/m everyday and no gas please anyone else have lower back pain with ibs I need to hear from you.

I experince lower back pain as well as other symptoms. I've already posted in here under Help Please. No one has answered me back yet and it's been there for 2 weeks. Hopefully someone answers you and I'll keep checking yours as well, just in case. In the meantime, I hope you feel better, and take care

Just to let you know that i also get lower back pain from IBS and am currently using a tens machine for the pain. Its very good and saves me from taking Ibuprofen which often upsets my already irritated bowl and stomach. Have any of you experienced shortness of breath or pains in the upper chest, and can only get a breath with a yawn..

No I havent had shortness of breath,It is good to know I am not alone, most ibs symptoms I have been told about are abdominal cramps which I dont get.Hate the gas though that really sucks.

Yep, me too!!! Gas, feeling bloated. Have just come back from the library and got a couple of books on IBS.Hopefully to understand is part of the problem and realise that sometimes the worrying is'nt helping the situation.
Keep Well (or at least as well as you can!!)
Kindest Regards

Have a appointment with my doc on monday,he happens to be an ob/gyn.Since they never found anything in my tests pointing to my bowel, going to ask him for a ultrsound on my ovaries, just in case.
Many women with ovarian cysts and cancer have all of the same symptoms of Ibs and most have been wrongly diagnosed with it before they find the problem is with the ovaries.Until then i will keep suffering and do my best.
Take care Jetset

hopefully they find something for you. i've been wondering that myself. the cramps in my side and lower gut are so bad. (the last time i went to emerg. they even offered me morphine) About 3 years ago I had an ovarian cyst. Got an ultrasound done and they didn't find it. Then one day it burst, so then they say, 'well yep i guess there was a cyst' Now i have to see my gyn doc. every 6 months because I had abnormal cells. I don't have my next appoinment with him until March 7th. It's been going on for almost 2 years and I just feel like I'm getting worse and worse.

Sounds exctly like what I get and I am not even female. ;) Seriously, it hurts like an SOB. It runs up and down my legs and it includes my back. My precious little jimmies feel like they are clamped in a vise. In fact, over the last three years I've dumped a ton of money into trying to solve sore back problems only to find out that what I had was a bowel problem. So, I am on an anti-depressant which helps a great deal, and for the occasional serious flare-up I have been using a bit of Lorazepam. Life is sooooooo much better now. Heck I was in agony for years before this.
Don't worry. Get some good drugs.
Now if only some one could tell me how to get my sex drive back. Are there any good drugs for that?

I have found that most cramping and spasms are cause by lack og magnesium in your system.
A good homeopathic remedy that is certainly readily available is -- Magnesia Phos -- taken as needed.
Magnesium is in every cell in your body but about 2/3 of it is a mineral that isin your bones to make them strong.
Magnesium is needed for many things in the body--- to help absorb calcium, enzyme production, energy, etc.
You may just need to take a magnesium supplement. The daily recommended dose is 400 mgms. It is best to take it in divided doses -- like 3 daily for better absorption.
