I started taking my temp with the basil thermometer this morning. one question for anyone familar with this:
Is it a big problem if on the weekends, I get up out of bed and go to another room to take my temp? I don't want to wake my husband up on the weekends.

from my understanding...if you get up..that would change your temps some...which is why they say to have he thermometer ready for the next am (shaken down)...and to have it at your bedside, to get the most accurate reading.
i too have questions concerning bbt. i have been using one out of curiosity for a couple of weeks..(have been having pg symptoms, and read that if you are pg, that temps stay up)...my temp is still hovering around 98.6...(a couple of years back when I was charting, i was having readings around 97.??, so I know this is a high reading for me)...I have irregular periods...they mostly come on cd 30---but have been known to be anywhere between cd 24 and cd 36...so i dont know when i would be "late"...today is cd 30..temp this am was still 98.6...i do have AF symptoms....but also pg symptoms..took pg test on Friday..negative...two different brands on Monday..negative....and one at 3 am Tuesday morning....negative...so I dont know whats going on.
Symptoms are: nausea, extreme tiredness, cramping (have never had before), frequent urination, bbt's still up, ..........but I am also hurting as if AF is about to show. (I have endometriosis, so I have pain every month prior to my AF).
I have really never understood bbt's....so dont know when they are supposed to drop if you are not pg....I have read 1-2 days before AF begins, I have also read that it will drop when ovulation time is over.....so, I dont know if my temps still being up is a good sign...or if it its just not time for it to drop.

Your temp can start dropping 1 or 2 days before AF or sometimes the first couple of days suring AF. It can vary woman to woman or month to month.
Technically, you are supposed to temp without moving or getting up in the morning. And you are supposed to temp at the same time each morning - which might mean setting an alarm in order to wake up at the same time each day. Is your DH such a light sleeper that the beeping of the thermometer would actually wake him up? Does your thermometer save the temp? If so, once it starts beeping you could turn it off right away and then turn it on again to see what the temp was.
Hope this helps!

Thanks...for your thoughts... :)
My Husband really is a good sleeper, he doesn't hear as much as I hear, but I know he'd hear that...for some reason I do. He gets up SO EARLY during the week, I would just hate to disturb his best rest on the weekends. I guess I'll have to think about it and decide for sure.
I haven't started my next cycle yet so I'm just taking it to test it out till next period starts. I'm due to ovulate in about 3 days. My temp this morning read 97.69...is that high?

You could take it a couple of hours later, i tend to wake up instantly before my alarm (even on the week ends) and take it straight away, once it has stopped beeping i turn it off and look at it later, dh stirrs a little but he is used to it now and says it doesnt bother him much, i keep mine right next to the bed so as i dont have to move to far.
Its worth a try, Good luck :)

You aren't actually suppose to take your temperature hours later. It is supposed to be done at the same time each day. Doing it at different times might make you get completely skewed readings.
Try it out in the mornings. Just turn it off right when it starts beeping. I bet DH won't even hear it. But I do understand your concern. It is sweet of you to be concerned about not waking him up.
Good luck!

It says in the tcoyf book that if you take it an hour later it shouldnt make much difference, im not saying get up at 10 and take it, im saying an hour or so shouldnt make a huge difference, i understand that 3+ hours will give you an incorrect reading.
I did get up a few hour later and made sure i wrote down that temp was taken late so as not to confuse myself when looking at the chart but i took it the usual time the following day and it was the same.
There is a section in the book which explains how shift workers are to take their temp, maybe you could read into that and see if that suits your circumstances, obviously you want a reading to be as accurate as possible though.
Good luck
