I am 36 years old and currently in my 7th month of pregnancy. This is my third pregnancy. The first two went smoothly, healthy and normal. When I was about 4 months pregnant one evening while wathcing a movie with my husband I started having a slight headache so I took 2 Tylenol. The headache never became severe and did eventually go away but maybe an hour later I started having slightly blurred vision. I wear soft disposable contact lenses and just thought they were dirty and they felt a little dry so I went to take them out. That's when I noticed that my right eye was dilated and my left eye was not. I called my husband, who observed that my right eye was unresponsive and would not constrict in bright light, but that my left eye seemed normal.
At that point we made the mistake of calling an "ask a nurse line" that our insurance company provides since it was a weekend evening and Drs. office wasn't open. They proceeded to ask me questions, to cover one eye, check for tunnel vision, etc. and since I didn't have any other symptoms they advised me against going to or even calling the ER since I have a $100 copay for ER. About 2 hours later my right eye was back to normal. A couple days later, at my next doctors apptmt., I told my ob/gyn about what had happened and he told me he didn't know why it happened, but not to worry about it unless it happened again.
Since then I've done some research on the internet and it seems to me that I should've went to the ER and had somebody look at the damn thing while it was happening. I haven't had a reoccurance but for the last 1 1/2 months I've been extremely fatigued and my Dr. did blood tests and has recently diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism. He has started my on 50 mcg Levothyroxine. Now I am wondering if the weird dilated pupil thing might have a connection to the hypothyroidism.
If anybody has any insight or thoughts to share about any of this I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I am, of course, a little worried about my health right now.
