Did anybody see that Dr show called House the other night. Its about an eccentric genius who goes way out of the way to solve medical mysteries while gulping vicodins all day. It seems he has a problem with a leg injury and "needs" them. Anyway, he was challenged to stop for a week (from an 80mg/day habit). So he goes into withdrawl and you see this guy completely soaked in sweat with his eyes about to pop out of his head. When he just can't take it any longer, he grabbed a blunt object off his desk and smashed it on his hand breaking it. This was, ostnesibly, to refocus his mind on a different kind of pain. Pretty dramatic stuff. I wonder if that works?

I saw that. I was thinking that 'This guy must have been swallowing 1,000mgs a day to have withdrawls like that.' Yes, very dramatic, but, that is TV for you. I wish I had video taped my first few days of my cold turkey withdrawls from OCs back during the first week of January. Now, THAT would have been worth seeing. It could have been used as a scared straight training video. But, most of the people who read this board know what I am talking about.

i saw it too!
It was weird, and did you see him at the end when he got his pills back, chillin high as a kite, nodding sitting in a chair listening to music????? That ending killed me. Not really a good show for us addicts to watch. I don't know it made me feel uneasy or something. I was wondering why he did that to his hand, that would've just made me want vikes MORE!!!! I was thinking about posting about this show.....

Show is awesome, but they didn't show him crappin his brains out or the other 100 things that happen when you go through w/d.

Yep, it was definitely lacking in the withdrawal symptoms and the sad part to me was had that been me and I was in the full throes of W/D I can't say that I'd have cared if the kid got well or not. I know doesn't say much about me but I know how I've gotten when going thru W/D nothing matters just want to lay around and be left alone............

2 hydrocodone 7.5/750mg a day. That would be 15 mg of Hydrocodone by 1500 "Tylenol/APAP" a day. Add both.

Thats funny Lee...I think it shows that you got off this train alot faster than I did...I have obsessed over how many mgs of this or that I needed to achieve my using 'goals' for a long time. Glad to hear you're feeling good...10 days is terrific. Just remember the feeling you first posted about...hitting the next vicodin you see with a shovel.

OK PEOPLE...... now you have my curiosity up!!! What kind of show was that? Is it like a hour long weekly series or a movie...what??? What night and what network was it on? I am sooooo mad i missed it. I have been in bed since last Saturday with the flu.... finally managed to drag myself outta bed and go to the doctors today and now my flu has turned into a respiratory infection. Doc says take these here antibiotics and stay in bed another 3 or 4 days and you should start feeling better. I 'm like WHAT!!!! stay in bed another 3 or 4 days!!!! I've been in bed for 5 days already!!!! This really sucks! Give me info people!!!!

In my opinion, it wasn't a very accurate portrayal of someone addicted to pain meds. And the end, when he was chillin in the chair after taking the meds. It looked like he had just done a needle full of heroin, not swallowing a couple of Vikes. Not very realistic at all.
Valleygurl - I think it is on Tuesdays at around 9:00 on a network. IMO its really silly and unrealistic. I thought the withdrawl from 80mg/day was dramatic but I guess they felt the need to be "responsible" and show the down side of narcotic abuse. Of course, since that is what the character is about, he should be back to the pills next week.
