Hello. I weight 166 lbs and am thin. But I have a few extra pounds on my stomach. I would like to get rid of it and then turn it into better muscle. If I wanna loose this small amount of weight Should I eat less calories or less carbs? Also If you can name some foods that have low calories and carbs that would be good. I also do 30 crunches daily. Are there other excersices I could do to loose the stomach fat? I dont have any machinery or dumbells. I do however have 2 30 pound metal arm weights. I will give an idea of what I eat almost daily. tell me if I should make changes. On a work day I will either skip breakfast or just have orange juice. then for lunch I eat turkey sandwhich on whole wheat bread, carrots, and 2 snack wells cookies, then for dinner I have whatever is made and a snack at night which is usually a bowl of chips or cookies. Well please let me know what I could do to loose this small amount of weight and turn into muscle. I dont like those foods that real bodybuilders use either like boost, protein/carb bars, carnation and eggnog. I eat normal foods. Also if you know of any shoulder and arm excersices let me know. My goal is to loose like 5 pounds or so of the fat on my stomach and then turn some of it into muscle. just firm it up a bit. Well thanks!

hi dragonfire24, it sounds to me like you need to change your diet rather then eat less, you could do this in a couple of ways. first, if you are already slim but have a bit of weight round your belly then you should cut down on food that have wheat, gluten and yeast, and of corse alcohol. these foods(drink) are the type that bloat thats how you have a bit of a belly even though you exercise and are slim. i had to cut these things out cos i sufferd from stomach cramps, but i couldnt believe how i once had a skinny body but always had a swollen belly, just changed i have a lovely flat stomach now. im not sayin in your case to cut them out altogether just cut down alot. also if you want to develope muscle you need to put the right things in, protien food, such as meats, eggs, milk etc. protiens are "healing foods" so to speak, when youve flogged your muscles with weights or whatever protiens heal and make the muscle strong. also you need a healthy ballanced diet, you need fruit and veg because the fill you up without putting much weight on, also they feed you with nutrients, which you need when training. yes you definatly need slow releasing carbs, such as jacket potatoe, brow rice, brow pasta etc. it is also very important to eat regular, breakfast(this is most important meal of all), dinner, tea and small supper(not protien, somthing slow releasing). all this will sort weight and good development. and any exercise you do will work loads better.
if your reading all this and thinking "i dont want to make that much effort , just want rid of belly weight then take my advice of really cutting down on eating bread and pasta and other foods with wheat and gluten(you can buy wheat and gluten free food) you will see a total diffrence with your belly, loads of people have that have tried this. you should notice a total diffence in a week.
hope ive been some help. if you try my suggestions let me know how you go.
