Hi,
I eat a diet that is fairly high in fiber and was wondering how much of this psyllium I should consume every day for constipation.
Plus, it is recommended to eat 25-30 gr of fiber per day but the "facts" says:
One tablespoon:
Dietary fiber 4.5g
Soluable Fiber 3.5g
Insoluable Fiber 1.0g

My question is, should I add all of those up to get the total amount of fiber (ya know the recommended amount)? And, for those of you who take it, how long does it take to work and how much do you take per day? It says 1 to 3 times per day either with or between meals. I have a feeling this stuff ain't going to work right away, and I guess I have to be persistant with it huh?

I found when I use to take it I would take a few large tablespoons mixed in a glass of juice or water. Then I would drink lots of water for awhile. If you do not drink a lot of water for the next 10-24 hours you can even more constipated with psyllium. It acts as a colon slough and swells up in your colon. Water flushes it out along with all the waste. So remember to drink often when you take it.
I have taken it for two weeks daily as part of a cleanse. It was great.
