I have osteo in my upper jaw. I am missing two teeth and the teeth on either side hurt too. Sometimes my whole mouth hurts. It throbs, there is pressure, and the area just feels sore, open, and raw. I also get a bad taste sometimes, headaches, and eye pain. Go to your medical doctor and ask for a MRI with contrast. What are your symptoms? dancersadie 02-19-2005, 10:28 AM Go to the [removed] site and search for Osteomyelitis of the Jaw. [Healthboards does not permit giving directions to a website. It isn't just an irritating toothache, in fact quite often it is so severe that it makes me want to top myself it gets so bad. To try to correct this, over the past year I've had 4 tooth extractions and 5 root canals and I still have severe pain. I have now seen 22 different dentists, doctors and specialists all of which have been pretty useless and just try to palm me off with all sorts of reasons. Needless to say I am completely frustrated and depressed about the whole situation. I was told that I had an abscess to begin with, which was fixed after I had the teeth extracted, but then the pain just moved to another tooth, so I was told by my doctor that I had trigeminal neuralgia. I then seen an oral surgeon who told me I didn't have trigeminal neuralgia and the pain was probably coming from having fibromyalgia. So I mentioned this to my physiotherapist, who didn't think it was a problem from my fibromyalgia and it was a dental problem. So basically I've just been this ping-pong ball getting knocked about everywhere. I was just wondering if this was the kind of situation that any of you have ever found yourselves in? I think that TMJ and Bruxism can also cause similar symptoms to this although I didn't think it would feel this severe. Did you find that your osteo just affected one particular area of the mouth or just in one particular jaw, or was it something which moved about? I really hope it isn't something like osteo as I know it's quite difficult to fix. Any help or advice you could offer would be wholeheartedly appreciated as I have yet to speak to anybody who has any understanding of what the cause of this pain could be. dancersadie 02-19-2005, 10:35 AM I mean [removed].
