I am on the Nuvaring as of right now, and two months ago I put my new one in on a Monday instead of my usual Sunday. I got my period, a couple days earlier than it had been in the past. After the week was up, I put the new one in on Sunday, which would of have been a day earlier than my previous ring. My question is, would this have any play on the effectiveness for the seven day gap of my most recent one (the one i put in a day early)? I ask this because during that first seven days of the most recent one, I had sex without a condom and afterwards (within the next couple of weeks), I noticed spotting, light cramping, and bit of nausea. I was also curious about prescription drugs and the effectiveness because I have also beenon several different meds because of illness. Sitrex as a decongestant, Hydrocodone, and just over the counter cold/flu decongestants. If you happen to know anything about the effect on birth control when starting a new month a day early, please reply.

Putting the ring in early will not decrease effectiveness, however, putting it in late will decrease the effectiveness.
None of the pills you mentioned have a direct effect on the pill, but illness can cause menstrual irregularities.
