I've read that there is an increased incidence of vaginal/yeast infections when using the ring. Last week I was experiencing some minor itching. Having had a yeast infection in the past I knew what I was in for. I decided to take the ring out, rinse it in cold water and put it back in. Itching stopped the next day. Not sure if this will work for everyone...but just a suggestion if you've had problems like this.

I had two yeast infections while using nuva ring. The first was just minor itching like you described no discharge. I used some yeast medicine and it eventually went away. The second time was horrible  . I never thought to take it out and rinse it though. I just decided to stop using the ring.

Well, I'll share my horrific love/hate ordeal with the nuvaring. I spent one miserable year determined to stay on the nuvaring. I loved it because it is the only form of bc that has caused no weight gain whatsoever, increased my cup size slightly, caused no headaches, killed my awful cramps, never caused nausea, etc. HOWEVER, I lived with constant bacterial and yeast infections that never went away no matter what I tried. It began about 4 weeks after I got on it. I made at least one trip a month to my gyno's office desperate for relief. I was in denial that it was the ring b/c it was great for so many other reasons. I also noticed that I developed really bad post nasal drip while on the nuvaring as well. Well, I took the ring out 2 weeks ago & went to my doctor today to get on yasmin. Guess what?! She said that she hasn't seen me look this healthy since before I got on the nuvaring. I feel like a different person & I have NO infection whatsoever. I know that many, many girls never react the way that I did to the ring. However, if you suddenly start experiencing these symptoms then get off of it!!!

I love it at first too. I was never able to tolerate any other bcp. But after that first month... I started getting weird yellow discharge and recurrent yeast infections. Needless to say, the doctor encouraged me to get off it. She said that quite a few of her other patients had similar problems. It's a good idea in theory, but maybe some vaginas just don't want something stuck up there for a whole month :D

LOL!!! I guess so!!! Interesting...
Anyway...I've had good luck so far with it...had my "out" week last week and started my 2nd month on it yesterday. Haven't had any itching/discharge except tha one time-and rinsing it really seemed to help.
