I recently got my braces off and now I wear top and bottom removable retainers. I have noticed that the retainers are hard to keep clean and they are developing an odor, has anyone else ever had this problem and what is the best way to keep them clean?

Hi Cindy,
I have upper and lower retainers also. When I remove them in the AM I brush them with my tooth brush and run them under very hot water. Every other day I soak them in Listerine for 10 minutes. Keeps them germ free and smelling great. Hope this helps.

Hey Cindy! I have a removable upper retainer, and my orthodontist suggested I soak it in polident in addition to brushing it with my toothbrush. It works great on odor, and keeping it clean. ;)
