View Full Version : Weight & Adrenal Problems

I strongly believe that I have adrenal problems, as well as candidiasis. I have almost every symptom of adrenal problems that you can think of, and it's worsening lately. Luckily, I just purchased health insurance and will be able to finally (after almost two years of no insurance and being extremely sick) see doctors. :) Anyway, it seems that almost everyone with adrenal problems also has the weight gain, and I have the opposite problem. Everytime I manage to gain even a small amount of weight, I lose it less than a a week later, and barely put on a pound even though I honestly (no exaggerating) eat almost DOUBLE that of grown man everyday. I'm 5'5" and 112lbs. and have to try really hard to stay at this weight. I do TEND to gain weight, if I put on one or two pounds, in my stomach, though, as goes with adrenal problems. My butt is so bony that it hurts to sit down, but I do have a little bit of a stomach. Do I have to have tremendous or significant weight gain to have adrenal problems, or does not EVERYONE have that symptom? Soon, I can get tests done, so I'll know for sure, but I'm just curious.

Thanks,
Katalina

Chris,

Thank you very much for your reply. I recently just starting reading all the threads on here that I can, and it's really great because I'm learning quite a bit. When these problems first started a couple of years ago, when I had health insurance, I did actually see an endo who was NOT helpful at all. I was having severe hypoglycemic episodes several times throughout the day, even with eating high protein meals, and the endo basically told me that there is nothing wrong with me because my fasting glucose level wasn't low. My numbers weren't extremely low, it was how FAST they suddenly dropped that caused most of my symptoms. I actually temporarily "cured" myself of my hypoglycemia. Well, I don't have episodes as often as I used to. I did an allergy elimination diet, and eliminated foods that I was intolerant to, and my blood sugar levels stabilized, amazingly. My problem now is that ANY carbohydrates bother me (asthma, rashes, eczema, lung pain) and that I always form new food intolerances. I'm actually only truly allergic to peanuts, soy, eggs, and mildly, dairy, but cannot eat most "normal" foods. Anyway, I got way off track. I also suspect hypthyroidism as thyroid problems are in my family, and a couple of family members have Hashimoto's. I just actually purchased health insurance for myself, and I'm not sure if it will cover an osteopath, but I know it covers several naturopaths. Would that route be helpful also, do you think? Can naturopaths order tests like an osteopath can? Ideally I'd like to see an osteopath, but if naturopaths can order the tests I'd like, I'll go down that route. I actually started a thread on the difference between naturopaths and osteopaths as I wasn't sure what the difference was. I REALLY, REALLY appreciate you listing the tests I should get like you did. Oh, one other thing, I suppose that you can develop a disease or a syndrome at any age, but is it rare for someone my age to have these things afflict them? I'm only 20.

Thanks,
Katalina
