Hi All,

Has anyone noticed feeling worse after trying a vit B supplement? I've tried it on a number of occasions over the last year and every time I feel crappy for the rest of the day (again yesterday) - lightheaded and quite out of it. The B vitamins seem to stimulate my nervous/vestibular system somehow. Gotta love this junk - not.

..I'm doing a little research on Niacin as it helps lower cholesterol. My concern is the "flushing" effect that it has. Some souces say it caused by histamine and other say it's not. Histamine is a huge trigger for me, so I'm quite cautious with taking the B vitamins of which Niacin is one. Histamine is also a nuerotransmitter and that may explain it's efect on our balance system when there is too much present.
...The flip side to that is that I read a post just the other day of a person who said ther have been vertigo free since using niacin and one of the treatments for Meniere's, that a lot of peopl find helps them, is SERC or Betahistine, which to my understanding are histamine.

Scott!

Hope this finds you doing well!

I tried Vitamin B for months, but it did nothing to improve or provoke my symptoms.

FYI that Niacin works by increasing blow flood (hence, the flushing, which is actually just more blood flowing to the surface of the skin, like blushing). The thought is that since Niacin increases blood flow, this increases blood flow to the inner ear, which lack of can cause some types of vertigo.

Hugs! xo
