Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has been put on Cymbalta to treat OCD. I just started a few days ago, and just wanted to know if anyone has used it and was it successful or not? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was put on Cymbalta about a month ago, but for depression, not for OCD, but I also have OCD. Then, about 2 weeks ago, I went off of clomipramine (generic of Anafranil), which is a tricyclic anti-depressant which was helping with my OCD. When I went off of it, I started to get some of my OCD symptoms back, but they aren't so bad that I can't handle them, which could mean that the Cymbalta is doing good things and covering for it.
I'm interested to know how it works out for you, so keep us posted.

Why did you stop the Anafranil if it helped. My 14 yr old son has OCD pretty bad. We tried Lexapro but it didn't help. We were hoping to try the Anafranil next ?

Anafranil is a very rough drug because it effects several neurotransmitters. I would stick to the SSRI's and avoid anafranil. Anafranil is also extremely sedating and the side effects are much worse than SSRI's.
Cymbalta I found to be good for depression because it effects norpinephrine alot. I did not find cymbalta great for OCD because it is not strong enough in the serotonin area. I quit cymbalta after a short time and went back on luvox.
