Hi all,
I just had a C Reactive Protein test as part of my annual physical and the result was high, a 7, indicating high risk for heart disease. I am on Birth Control still, at age 46, been on it since age 26 when I got married. My current prescription is for Mircette 28 which is a low dosage pill. What I've read indicates that birth control pills will cause the result of this test to be high, but is that because there is a serious risk? or is it just an inaccurate reading. I will be calling my gyn on monday to discuss this with him, but thought I'd post here in the meantime. My GP is suggesting that I go on cholesterol medication, and didn't say anything about the fact that I am on birth control being a factor in this test. My cholesterol is 212 and I'd rather try to reduce that through diet and exercise. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks in advance Jeannie
