Hello all,
I know MS is'nt funny,,but sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying.I had a funny thing happen to me this morn,I was lying in bed telling stories to my boy when I saw a bug crawling on the wall.I smashed that bug at least 5 times, but it kept moving in circles and it felt hard ,so I thought it may be a tic although out of season. So I grabbed my lighter to burn it,could'nt get a grip on it so I yelled for my hubby,he came in to help,,he looked at me like I was nutts! It was'nt a bug,it was a small hole in the wall where a nail once was,I just laughed and laughed.Eyes can play tricks on ya sometimes!!
Wish you well,Dessell:)

Thanks for bringing some laughter here! You have such a great attitude. Your positive outlook will take you far in overcoming your MS and is an inspiration to the people here.

Best wishes,

[QUOTE=Dessell]I was'nt too happy when I first found out about ms,but after awhile you just settle in and except it.QUOTE]

That has been my daughter's perspective. It was very difficult the first 2 years, but the last 3 have been better because she has learned to accept her MS and live as fully as she can in spite of it.

However, even though she has accepted it, she wages full scale war against it by injecting with Copaxone and getting Tysabri infusions. Even these things she now takes in stride, just considering them a nuisance.

I know this perspective can be difficult for a newbie to MS to comprehend, as their life as they've known it has been shattered. Hang in there! It does get easier to deal with.

Some might wonder where I get off talking about this as I don't have MS myself, but I do suffer daily from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, which involves chronic pain due to a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system. I have been through the same cycle myself and am finally reaching the stage of accepting and adapting.

One final thought - finding a good doctor is important!

Thanks for starting this thread, Dessell.

Take care,
Julie

Hi Everyone!
I loved that story about the nail hole. Tickled my funny bone.

Just to add to Jewel2. . .a good doctor is essential. I feel pangs for people who have limited options due to small communities or rigid health insurance. Of course no health insurance is worse than rigid health coverage, but it's so frustrating that not everyone has the best possible care available to them.

At this time in my life I am blessed to have very good coverage through my employer but it hasn't always been so. There has been several times when I had no health plan at all. Because I have good insurance coverage now, when a doctor offers me samples for a prescription I politely refuse and tell him to please save them for someone with no insurance or minimal coverage. I can afford the low prescription copays so I don't need the samples.

Take care everyone! Stay positive!!

Another Julie.

Vectra,
I think I would roll into the wall, too! My son gets a 10 day leave after he graduates from the Marine Corp boot camp in April and I know I'll go crazy when I see him. I join you in praying for all of our soldiers.

Vectra,
I'm going nuts, too! I think my stress over him being in boot camp is making my RSD flare. He's writing a lot, and that helps. I've been told to be prepared for the transformation. I know I'll just bawl when I see him.

Thanks for the hugs and kind words!

Julie
