stcarlsen 02-21-2005, 12:05 PM I have had a constant daily feeling of dizziness for over 8 months, following a panic attack that sent me to the ER. I have been to every doc and had every test out there. they all came back normal. Along the way, alot of docs have told me it is stress/anxiety. what doesn't make sense is that i am dizzy every day, and even when i am relaxed and happy. does anyone else have this problem and has anyone been able to help it. thanks

Hi- I have the same problem. I have been dizzy for months now. I can just be relaxing and all of a sudden I feel like I am swimming in my head. My doc has said it is anxiety as well. Can you explain what your dizziness is like?
Comptons 02-21-2005, 03:34 PM Same for me. I've been dizzy/lightheaded for a long time. Mine feels like a real fullness in the head and an unsteadiness on my feet. Even sitting down - I feel unsteady. I've never fallen, fainted, etc., but it sure feels like I will at any moment. The terrible part is .... you just have to keep going. Some times I feel as if it has something to do with sinus pressure. The doctor diagnosed me with cardiogenic syncope and put me on a beta blocker two years ago. Of course I got off when I became pregnant. I'm pretty convinced it's just anxiety because I had NO problems at all during my pregnancy. Now it's started happening again. Hope we can learn to cope with it...
shandielee 02-21-2005, 05:37 PM i to have the not so much dizzy spells but a feeling of being very off balanced all day long..never really goes away..the xanax helps a little but not perfect..it is way worse without it though. I have had a few times where I swore I was going to pass out but did not by some miracle. I to will feel fine but it is always their...this life so sucks
sahaira 02-21-2005, 06:33 PM I feel like I am going to pass out too but only when the dizziness turns into panic. I read in the book panic to power that you become dizzy because your body is ready for the flight or fight response. The blood leaves your head and go to other places in the body. Blood also leaves your feet and hands in case they were to be hurt or cut. Its just the body's response but it is an awful feeling. I notice mine is worse when looking at a computer screen, after I eat or when I am watching tv. When I am busy doing things my dizziness pretty much goes away.
Dizziness I think is the worst though because you can't make it just go away.
stcarlsen 02-22-2005, 12:10 AM Sahaira, My Dizziness Kind Of Changes Over Weeks And Months But Generally It Is A Weird Unbalanced Lightheaded Feeling. Sometimes It Feels Like I Am Sinking In The Ground Or Swaying Like Walking On A Waterbed. The Room Doesnt Spin, But It Does Sway When I Sway. It Is Not There When I Am Sitting Or Standing As Much, But It Is Almost Always There When Standing And Walking. Sometimes I Feel Like I Might Pass Out But Never Do. It Also Gets Worse As I Get More Tired. Thanks And Good Luck.
Seebs 02-22-2005, 09:26 AM I've suffered from dizziness/light headedness on and off for years and obviously the various doctors I've seen have been useless, just putting it down to the anxiety.
The dizziness is seemingly random, and doesn't occur when I'm stressed/anxious. In fact it is often what makes me anxious as I think there must be a physical cause for the feeling and I often feel like I'm going to faint.
I've just been to see a Traditional Chinese Medicine Dr who told me that I have various problems with organs not functioning properly, and my body generally being out of balance. Nothing serious (therefore nothing that would be picked up by my GP), but just many small problems that need to be addressed.
She gave me various herbal remedies and I have booked in for some acupuncture sessions.
I am a skeptical kind of person, but I recently took some herbal tablets for my stomach and the stomach ache I had suffered from every morning and evening for months has now gone.
I think it makes sense that you can feel dizzy when your body is out of whack, without there being an obvious single cause.
Anyway, I'm feeling positive and will call back after my first few sessions to let you know the outcome.
Sorry for the very long post - it's the first time I have done this and I got a bit carried away!

Hi stcarlsen - my dizziness is exactly the same as yours. It is best described as a sway not a spin. I feel like my head is swimming or I am drunk. At least I know I am not the only one that feels that way! Good luck to you as well -
** I like the waterbed analogy - that is exactly how it feels!!!!
Comptons 02-22-2005, 12:45 PM I'm a "swayer" too - not a spinner. Sometimes it feels like I've missed a step or something. If I stand real close to the mirror and very still, I actually begin to sway. Anyway, nice to hear I'm not alone.
stcarlsen 02-26-2005, 01:38 AM does any one have any suggestions? also any other sypmtoms along with the dizziness?
:bouncing:
sahaira 02-26-2005, 09:48 PM no other symptoms really - I have feelings some time like something is pushing on the top of my head causing me to want to fall forward. Its like a heaviness. I have all the other symptoms that go hand in hand with anxiety... I wish I had suggestions. I don't know what you are supposed to do!
MKLowTone 02-27-2005, 04:23 PM The fight or flight response actually sends more blood everywhere, enbaling your body to make the best use of your muscles, hece the tingling fingers and toes
if blood leaves an area, that area just goes cold (like fingers and toes in the winter) because that blood is being used to keep the core warm instead
