My dentist whom I have great respect for has set me up for
a consult to get my palatal torus removed with a periodontist.
What exactly is the scope of practive for a periodontist. I thought
I'd be seeing a oral surgeon. TIA

Periodontists deal with the supporting structures of the teeth (bone, ligaments, gingiva) . They perform many types a surgeries including the removal of tori. If you are concerned about his credentails. ask him how much experience he hs with this type of surgery. Oral surgeons do not only work in the mouth, but the entire face and head.

A periodontist specializes in the health of gums and bone. You will be in good hands with them!
