I'm looking for information about herbal remedies and/or dietary supplements that are good for the heart and circulation in general, and those that help lower blood pressure and cholesterol or maintain already normal levels. Thanks for any input!

Garlic is supposed to be helpful for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Also, I've read that there is something in dark chocolate that helps to lower cholesterol - don't know if it's true but I sure don't mind giving that a shot! The darker the better, and Dove chocolate is supposed to be the best (it's the best tasting, imo :) ).

In my opinion, fiber is the *best, best* thing to add to your diet for high cholesterol. The easiest way to get enough is try to have a serving of beans at lunch and at dinner. However, fiber supplements are okay, too. The best one in my opinion (and it tastes good, too) is Super Seed by Garden of Life. Another easy way to get it is to eat a hot cereal made from flax seed in the morning (usually these are available in the low carb section of the grocery or health food store).

For lowering blood pressure, there is something called the water cure, you can do a search for it. It uses water and unrefined ocean salt. I know it sounds counter-intuitive to use the salt, but it has worked for lots of people, me included. It's just about the easiest cure there is in the world, too.

Thanks you all... the question wasn't so much for me, as for a friend who was seeking to reduce the number of prescriptions he had to take. It's irrellevant now though... he passed away this past Friday. *sigh* I'm gonna look into those books though, it sounds intrigueing.
