I bit my inner cheek over the weekend while eating, I forgot to rinse my mouth afterward. Well to make a long story short I have an infection that has spread to my tongue and now my gum, I have white sore like object on my tongue and my gum around 2 teeth are now swollen, and they do bleed when I brush. My main concerned is that I struggle to eat. I went to an urgent care yesterday but it was worthless. They told me that I have an infection and perscribe penicillin. Well, this morning when I woke up I notice another gum swolling-up. I am currently rinsing my mouth with warm water and salt to help with the swollen. I am also going to see my personal physician today. Now should I also make an appoinment to see my Dentisit regarding my gum? or should I wait to see what my physicians says? help plz

You need to get into your dentist!! If definately sounds like an infection, and I doubt it was caused by biting your cheek, it was probably something already going on, the biting of your cheek just irritated it, or brought it more to your attention. Dental problems are silent, meaning you don't know you have a problem until it is too late.

I have been in the dental field for over 25 years, if your wondering about my advice.

Go call your dentist now!!

What about thrush? Antibiotics actually cause thrush, which can have different symptons.

I am not taking any type of antibiotics, so I could rule that out. I went to my dentist and he is current taking care of it, he gave me antibiotics and a mouth wash. He did a deep clean wish left my gums bleeding now when ever I brush and floss. Well i have to do what ever is neecsary to keep my teeth healthy.

Thank you all for your replies......
