Has anyone had all thier top teeth removed all at once? Then get put in Temporary denture? If so, is it very painfull??? I'm dentist phobic and gonna ask doc if I can take a valium and breakthrough pain pill before i go in. Keeping in mind I'm on powerful meds.

A friend of mine had this done 3 years ago.... I remember her saying it was the worst pain she had ever experienced, and that she could kill someone! There is the possibility however that she may have screwed up and not taken her pain medication (Tylenol 3's) properly. It was only painful until the gums healed which was a couple of days. I don't think she was given a temporary denture though -- if she was, she didn't wear it. Another person I know had it done and used the temporary denture and things weren't as rough for her at all.

I had all my top teeth removed and went home with a temporary denture in. I was put to sleep during the proceedure. I didn't find it too bad. I think I may of taken a pain pill or two later that day. Taking you denture out and back in the first few times was a little unpleasant, but all in all I've been through worst things. :)
