Now I realize that people can't and shouldn't try to diagnose themselves based off of symptoms, but nonetheless I still have a question. Where do rashes from a recent HIV infection occur, and what do they look like? I also realize that these symptoms may vary, but there must be some common description. Any response would be appreciated.

Hiv has many different faces and even with the rashes there is no realy set type of rash . Hiv doesn't realy hav any rule book to follow and that's why its so impossable to diagnose by symtoms .there is absolutely no way to diagnose hiv other than a hiv test even during the (ars) phase when the virus replicates out of control and destroys (T CELLS) a (CBC) or (COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT) will show up absolutely normal because the body can react very quickly to replace what is lost and that's why hiv is often mistaken for other viruses . The only and best thing to do is get tested at 3 months and if you still worried or unsure get tested at 6 moths .
Best of luck...........

The reason I was wondering is because I have heard on numerous web sites that a "maculopapular" rash is what is usually associated with acute HIV. However, I am having a hard time finding out a good description of what a "maculopapular" rash is. Currenty I have a rash on my back and shoulders that is located in a few blotches, is a very light red color, appears to be a bunch of small dots, however u can't feel just each individual ***, the skin just feels rough. Also, the rash only burns when it is rubbed on (almost like a sunburn). I dont know if that rash fits the description of a maculopapular rash or not, but I would really like to know if it does or not.
