I have one of the milder forms of Neuropathy.....occassional muscle twitches and hands and feet that get cold quickly.

Two days ago I began taking Amoxicillin to combat a tooth infection and after the first day I awoke the next morning with a tingling sensation in all fingers on the left hand....I'm now on my third day and the tingling has not lessened.

Does anyone know if taking Amoxicillin can cause my Neuropathy to flare up in such a manner?

If not, then maybe I better start worrying about my heart. ;)

I have 7 more days left before the Amoxicillin dosage is complete so I would apprecaite any input that can be provided.

Hi Rettks,

I'm new, (1st post), but this sounds very familiar. I was on 4 seperate antibiotics including amoxycillin. Although I don't recall a reaction to amoxy I did react to doxycycline which followed amoxy. Just in case you have/develop a form of anaphalactic shock syndrome it is imperative you tell your doctor what is happening immediately. I reacted so badly with so much neuropathy it is now permanent...

I am presently about to have tests for several inflammatory illnesses and an mri to rule out ms or similar disorders as well as demylination in neck...

Don't end up like me, take positive and firm action with your doctors. Mine were almost incompetent and I suspect they are partially to blame for some of my present symptoms.

The answer is simple: Ask them to change your antibiotic...

Andrew
