People usually tell me they see it in my face. They ask what's wrong, etc.

To be fair we're none of us great to be around when we're feeling anxious or depressed

But it's one of those things that show who your true friends are - they're the ones who will try to make you feel better about things and who won't judge you

I totally agree MKLowTone, you really find out who cares about you and who is looking out for you. It's been an eyeopener to see peoples reactions.

okletsgo, I have found people to be nothing but ignorant, stigmatising, stereotyping and generally horrible about anxiety. I've been called all sorts of names and had many offensive things said, you are not alone!

It's just one of those things...until you've walked in those shoes, you truly don't know. I think that people who've never had problems with anxiety simply do not understand it. They think we should be able to control our emotions (which to some extent is true). What they don't realize is that the symptoms are REAL and that a complete change in mind processes are required to be able to emotionally control this disorder. Most of us, I presume do not have the money, ability, resources, etc to go through intensive psychotherapy. For me, I just try to live with it the best I can. Of course, that's easy to say on good days. Just try to be patient with people who are ignorant. After all, if this had never happened to me, I would probably be the same way.
