Hihi,

I've always wondered about this - found myself here (I've posted before - I was searching for my username on goooooooogle XD) and thought I'd ask. I have these little specks on my eyes. My eyes are a greeny-yellow colour (they go very yellow in sunlight - it's scary :D) - and these brown/yellow specks are always visible on my iris's. My vision is fine, I don't wear glasses or anything; and I study fine-art photography - so being able to see is quite important to me!

http://www.steveguntrip.co.uk/dump/eyespecks.jpg - that's a GIANT version (it won't let me make a link). The white circle in the middle is just a reflection of my ring-flash.

Are they caused by anything? I'm posting just out of concern that they might be the onset of something I can stop now, but also just out of curiousity. I hope my eyes don't turn all brown! How boring!

Hope someone can reply, thanks!

Hey Steve, being able to see is quite important to EVERYBODY :)

Specks are normal.

In a sample of 324 patients from 5 urban clinics in Massachusetts and Maryland (therefore spanning many socioeconomic and racial groupings), those investigators reported:

32% blue/grey irises

15% blue/grey/green irises with brown/yellow specks

12% green/light brown irises with minimal specks

16% brown irises with specks

25% dark brown irises
