Hello, I am very excited to finally find a place with other people just like me!
First off, a little background. I am 18 and have had ear infections my whole life, litterally, 100s. About a year ago I was experience BAD BAD BAD pain and pressure and went to the emergency room. My ear drum burst and started to drain and that hurt A LOT. I was admitted and then got a cat scan and was diagnosed with bilateral mastoiditis (it was in both my mastoid bones) and was put on an aggressive IV antibiotic treatment for a week in the hospital and was sent home with another 2 weeks of anti-biotics. It seemed to go away, for the time being. Then about 2 months ago i was back in the hospital for a week with mastoiditis again and had another week of IV antibiotics and another round at home. Seemed to clear up again....for the time being. Well last night I was experiencing ear pain (only about a 5 on a scale from 1 to 10) but this time I had some bad dizziness, I had never had that before. Do you think that was related to the mastoiditis?? Could it be back? Well I cannot get an appointment with the ENT until next week but I am afraid it will get worse before then. Does anyone have experience with dizziness and mastoiditis? My right ear is the worst but it never really get swollen, maybe a little bump but not very much. So far, I cannot feel any kind of bump, but maybe a little red. I would love to hear anyone's personel experiences. Also, does anyone know when it is time to stop trying to treat with antibiotics (because they are not working in the long term) and when it is time for the surgery?
Thanks!

P.S.
I forgot to add that last year (before going to th hospital) I went in with bad ear pain and pressure and had about a tablespoon of white gunk suctioned out of my ear. My ear canal is too small for tubes (thats why they just suctioned it out and did not leave tubes in.....they also didn't give me any anestheteitic (Sp?) OUCH).
Also, my fiance and roommate both have had strep throat in the past week....so I am afraid that my ear my be acting up because the strep virus/bacteria is a big causer of mastoiditis.....am I right?
