Hi..I came on here to find out differnt things and info and I don't see much.I was wondering if anyone expierenced the VATS surgery done for lung cancer..My aunt (58)had it done this past May 2000 and had 1 st stage lung cancer( found through routine chest xray.).She went to doc for something else..That was a miracle right there!..She is doing excellent, 9 months, no cancer back..Doc says 25% chance it could come back somewhere else..But she was very lucky to have found it when she did .She had the VATS surgery, no chemo, radiation...Is anyone here familar with VATS (Video assisted surgery)? Hope to hear from someone thanks DEB

Hi Deb, I'm new to the board and just saw your post. I don't know about VATS, a lot of the cancers here are inoperable. Hope your aunt is still doing well, and going for frequent check ups. My Mom did chemo and radiation, never got sick, lost only 5 pounds in 5 months and cancer was gone! Mom's cancer was inoperable, so she had no choice. Glad to hear your aunt is doing so well. You might want to try to "old" message board, I'm sure there is a lot more info there. Love to you and yours.

a lot of that info can be found on copd boards. that surgery if often succeesful for non small cell, found in stage 1. small cell is not operable.
