Hi Folks,
My mother has terminal lung cancer with superior vena cava obstruction, the obstrution is a blockage of the main artery that supplies the upper body....I was wondering if anybody had a relative who had this obstruction....Mum has very swollen face and neck due to the obstruction also her face has swelled even more due to the steriods...she is taking dexamethasone...
My husband is in remission from Cancer (Non Hodgkins Lymphoma) and I'm devastated that my mum is terminally ill with the disease...
I would be grateful for any replies or advice
On dealing with things and the condition...
Thanx Love Janie xx

sorry to hear about your mother. the vena cava obstruction is especially tragic, (as if lung cancer isn't bad enough) All I can say is if she gets too uncomfortable look into radiation as pallatitive therapy ( it won't cure it) but if she has too much discomfort it may help her. i think doctors focus too much on cures and abandoned the ones they can't.

HI rosalita 1,
Thanx for your reply, mum has had radiotherapy and is now reducing the steriods.. The obstruction has gone down , but they are not treating the underlying cause, because the cancer was in the lymph nodes they have now shrunk them...they are pleased with her current scan as no reacurrance as yet....
Thanx for your help
With love Janie B
