Hey,
I was using it for almost a year at 20mg a day. I just weened myself off in the past 1 1/2 weeks by cutting the tablets in half. I dont know if its related or not but now I feel almost dizzy at times / disoriented. I feel really wierd. Im really scared. If I see the doc he's probably going to want to put me back on it. I just feel wierd, mostly on the left side of the head, disoriented, sometimes I know my heart is beating way too fast. Im hoping my body adjusts.
any help.
Chris

Yes that is classic withdrawal.

Keep weening yourself.. Take half doses for a little while. then cut the pills in quarters. Then take a quarter every other day and so on.

I weened on Lexapro with the same problems. Its the downfall of these drugs.

Hang in there. Its normal and you will get through it.

I do suggest that you let your doc know you are coming off though. Just so they know.

Hugs

Thanx,
Im pretty up front with my doc and I doubt he would have a problem with me weening off the drug I just haven't had the time to see him. I will probably call him tommorow and notify him and see if he has any other suggestions. Im done with my scipt of lexapro but I have the generic version (an older version) which I think is celexa or cipramil I recieved in australia. do you think it would be okay to continue weening off with this. I'll also check with the doc.
thanx again.

How long do withdrawal symptoms usually last ? I just searched the web and got a list of symptoms.

Ask for some xanax also. The benzo's help with withdrawal from the anti depressants. I had to do that with Effexor for 2 weeks after tapering and then completely stopping. If you doc is good, he will listen.

NO, I really would not ween off with another drug. (Celexa is NOT a generic of Lexapro, it is a totally different drug). I think mixing the drugs you are asking fro trouble.

Call your doc, ask for some samples of Lexapro, and ween off that. You are just asking for more problems by subbing a different drug.

Celexa - Citalopram is the older version of lexapro. I spoke with my doctors office yesterday. They told me that after taking a half for a week or so. I should have started taking a half every other day for a week and then i should be fine. they said it would be okay to go ahead now and use the citalopram for the next week using a half every other day as its the older version of the drug and will help with the withdrawal effects.
